ABOUT

Central Wing Chun. Neil Parris Wing Chun wooden man

We are passionate about Wing Chun kung fu and throughout the years our passion has spread to our students, some of whom have become teachers themselves. The Central Wing Chun family was founded in 2009 by Neil Parris who has been studying Wing Chun since 1993.

At Central Wing Chun we combine traditional and modern training methods so we can get the very best out of each and every student. Often described as a scientific approach to fighting, you will be taught the details of each action while being pushed physically and mentally to overcome your individual obstacles.

Is it going to be tough? You'd better believe it, but make no mistake, we are not drill sergeants! You'll be taught and trained in a hard-working, yet relaxed atmosphere so you can develop practical skills.  Skills that when applied, can be used both in combat and everyday life.

about

OUR STUDENTS

The students in our London Wing Chun classes are everyday people like you, from different walks of life, but with similar goals. Primarily our students want to learn how to defend themselves on the street, but many want to be more active and simply don't connect with standard gym training. Our Wing Chun classes can provide an outlet for the gymophobes and gym pros alike, but if you want all study and no sweat, or all sweat and no study, we suggest you look somewhere else.

Due to popular demand in the past, we restrict class sizes at our London Wing Chun classes. This way all students can get the attention they deserve and not get lost in the crowd. We therefore request that you get in touch before coming along to one of our London classes to avoid disappointment. Alternatively, you can arrange a private Wing Chun lesson in London with an instructor at a time to suit you.

"At Central Wing Chun we find that one of the greatest things Martial art training gives the student is a channel to disconnect from the daily demands of their life and to focus on something positive while shaping themselves into more capable human beings"

INSTRUCTORS

Sifu Neil Parris
Head instructor at Central Wing Chun
Sifu Neil Parris. Wing Chun kung fu in London

Sifu Neil Parris started learning Wing Chun in 1993. Since then he has actively sought out ways to continue improving his skill. He has been trained both in the UK and Hong Kong, and has been teaching Wing Chun for over two decades.

Up until 2023, Sifu Parris shared his vast knowledge in a regular column for Wing Chun illustrated magazine he called Trained Instinct.  This was publisised to an international audience with Sifu covering a range of topics centred around the application of Wing Chun.

Having trained in other Martial art disciplines, to include Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and Escrima, Neil Parris views his Wing Chun from a broad perspective while staying true to the principles taught to him.

In addition to his Martial pursuits, Neil Parris is a qualified Physiotherapist with a detailed understanding of human anatomy and body mechanics. Yes, he can break you, and build you back up again!

His teaching style adapts to each individual, bringing out the best in you, the student. Lessons are calm, yet energising and always focused on a practical application of the art. Whether you choose group classes, or a private lesson, Sifu Parris' attention to detail will guide you towards your goals, while having fun along the journey.

You can train with Sifu Parris at our Wing Chun group classes or in a private Wing Chun lesson in London, 6 days per week.
